Short Descriptions: "Theme is protecting and caretaking, making sure their charges are safe from harm. Talents lie in making sure everything is taken care of so others can succeed and accomplish their goals. Desiring to serve individual needs, often work long hours. Quietly friendly, respectful, unassuming. Thrive on serving quietly without fanfare. Devoted to doing whatever is necessary to ensure shelter and safety, warning about pitfalls and dangers and supporting along the way."3 "Quiet friendly, responsible, and conscientious. Work devotedly to meet their obligations. Lend stability to any project or group. Thorough, painstaking, accurate. Their interests are usually not technical. Can be patient with necessary details. "ISFJs take their energy from the inner world of thoughts and ideas. They prefer dealing with facts and people, and making decisions on the basis of personal values. Their life is organized on a personal basis, seeking to enjoy relationships with people they likes. They are quiet, serious observers of people, and are both conscientious and loyal. They prefer work that involves being of practical service to people. They are often concerned for and perceptive of how other people feel and dislikes confrontation and conflict. "For ISFJs the dominant quality in their lives is an abiding respect and sense of personal responsibility for doing what needs to be done in the here-and-now. Actions that are of practical help to others are of particular importance to ISFJs. Their realism, organizing abilities, and command of the facts lead to their thorough attention in completing tasks. ISFJs bring an aura of quiet warmth, caring, and dependability to all that they do; they take their work seriously and believe others should do so as well."6 "ISFJs direct their energy towards the inner world of thoughts and emotions. It is very important for you that problems are solved quickly and successfully as they arise. You often limit your contact only to people who you feel are useful and when working in a team you prefer to maintain your sense of individuality. You often try too hard to appear logical and consistent. You cope badly with ambiguous situations. In such cases it is difficult for you to maintain self-control and patience. You have difficulty seeing situation in its embryonic state. Your often stereotypical thinking does not help you to see the whole picture. You are impatient for people's disadvantages." 10 ISFJ Under STRESS
"ISFJs respect established authority and they tend to accept others' opinions and desires as their own. In work situations, they provide a stable and standardized service. Disorderly situations and constantly changing rules can cause them undue stress. At these times ISFJs need to be more assertive and direct because, owing to their kindheartedness and sensitivity, ISFJs can be taken for granted and even taken advantage of. This can cause them to feel resentment and anger feelings that the ISFJ has a tendency to deny. If the situation worsens and uncomfortable feelings build up, the ISFJ will begin to feel insecure about their status. Worrying that they are not secure or protected enough, they may become overprotective and excessively nervous about foreboding events. This can cause others to feel resistant or defiant which then contributes to the disorder of the situation. "Under great stress, ISFJs can get caught up in "catastrophizing" - imagining a host of negative possibilities.
