    1. Web-based Reference Center
    2. Internet Search Service
    3. Core Reference Books
    4. Local Resource Directory

  2. Background

    Integrating complementary modalities with conventional medicine is the future of health and wellness in the United States. There are numerous reasons COLLEGE X is well suited to become a reliable source of information for the metropolitan community:

    1. COLLEGE X's library has a strong web-based reference system;

    2. With no exclusive hospital affiliation, COLLEGE X provides a neutral ground for health care and complementary medicine providers;

    3. Since most holistic modalities focus on prevention and wellness, and COLLEGE X already has a strong campus-wide focus on wellness, it is a particularly good place to house such an information center;

    4. The diversity of religious and spiritual resources already present on campus create an accepting, even embracing, environment for people seeking information on spirituality-based health practices;

    5. Many holistic modalities have roots in other countries and cultures; therefore, such a center may contribute to COLLEGE X's ability to achieve excellence in International and Intercultural Studies.
