BALANCE is a mainstream inspirational center. It is a place to relax, play and have fun - a country club with a 50 meter swimming pool, golf course, tennis courts, restaurant, fitness center, spa and a conference center. A place that any executive would feel comfortable belonging to, but not a pretentious place. Yet a place where, behind the scenes, serious things are happening - classes on how to manage chronic pain or live with cancer, programs to launch careers and heal relationships, and opportunities to learn skills and techniques that lead to healing the spirit as well as the body and the mind.

THE PHYSICAL SPACE

BALANCE has two entrances - an activity side and a relaxation side. The entrance obvious to new visitors would be the relaxation side. The music playing in the background is more likely to be David Lanz, Gary Lamb or George Winston than Enya or Yanni, the aroma from essential oils rather than incense. The walls hung with bold oil paintings as well as soft watercolors, and lots of windows. I also see a brook or stream running within the center, drawing one further into the center. Plants, pottery and sculpture, lots of books and book shelves. Promotion of local artists and musicians - even live music - a baby grand piano in the corner, perhaps. Spacious and uncluttered, yet cozy. The activity side would be the restaurant, fitness center and 50 meter swimming pool.

The body work area, music and art expression / therapy room would be in the middle, so that a person can enter those areas by relaxing or energizing, depending on which entrance they choose to enter through. The bookstore and resource center would be immediately off of the relaxation greeting room. The atmosphere is light and playful, not serious or spiritual.

The Conference Center would be a separate building or group of buildings, to give people the freedom to create and manifest whatever energy is appropriate for the purpose of their gathering - whether that is rowdy and playful or somber and serious, without directly impacting the energy in other areas of the center. I would love there to be outdoor gardens, conventional and Eastern areas flowing into each other through gentle transitions. The restaurant would serve healthy and fun food, of course! The teaching kitchen is where we will learn how to prepare healthy and creative dishes from all cultures and philosophies.

To me, what the center is not, is as important as what it is. No angels, no ethereal music, no burning incense, no Tarot cards on the tables. No posters or flyers advertising spiritual journeys or re-birthing. Are there spiritual options available through the center? Yes, absolutely, but done in a way that is subliminal not obvious - presented as an after-thought rather than as the main conversation, "Oh, by the way......" Tucked away in the corners so that only those at a certain of level spiritual awareness would see them and take those opportunities. The center is marketed using conventional paper, designs and logos, not floating clouds and sunrises or images from other cultures. The high level of spirituality and integration of cultures and belief systems is discovered gradually and subtly; it creeps into a person's awareness rather than being presented to them. The gift that the Center has to offer would be hidden, wrapped in packaging that is comfortable to those who are just discovering they have a spirit. It is a place to come and play and discover and learn rather than a place to worship and study.

WHO AM I?

My life is about bringing people into a kinder, gentler, less serious and rigid view of life. I am about opening up hearts, rather than meeting the needs of a heart that is already open. I bring joy, by helping people remove the unconscious and conscious obstacles to joy they have placed in their lives - whether that's an over-riding obsession for financial success, staying in an unhealthy relationship or an illness or injury. I am comfortable living in the mainstream world, taking the hands of those around me and leading them across the bridge to the other side, as well as being the one who stands on the other side beckoning for people to come over to my side of the bridge. I prefer to create my center as a wellness facility rather than a "holistic health" or "spiritual" center. I am firmly rooted on the conventional side, and have the credentials to stand side-by-side with executives and managers, and the creativity to lead them over even though I am also spiritual, intuitive, and playful.

Why the name "BALANCE"? One, it is mainstream and not spiritual. Two, I believe in using a balance of both conventional and unconventional/complementary approaches to health and wellness. Three, balance is the gift that I have been given in this life - and what I strive to assist others to find. It is the cornerstone of my philosophies on health - that each of us has a unique balancing point of career, athleticism, artistry, relationship, external and internal lives, etc. and that peacefulness is the sign that we are in balance, and restlessness, frustration, anger, depression, as well as illness and injury, can sometimes be the signs that we are not.

MY ROLE

My role in creating and managing BALANCE is varied. I have a professional and personal background that allows me to connect with many people from diverse histories and experiences. I have the credentials and credibility to attract venture capital. I have the education and experiences - both formal and informal - to orchestrate, design and present a wide-range of programs from practical to spiritual. My personal balancing point is sufficiently central between spiritual and mainstream to gently remind those who are further in one direction or the other where middle ground is, so that BALANCE keeps its universal appeal, and remains a comfortable place for those who are just coming across the bridge as well as those seeking more - so that it remains a place to come and PLAY. I market BALANCE through giving keynote lectures and presenting workshops at facilities and conferences held outside the center. In addition to this leadership role, I write books, record CDs and and hold week-long intensive one-on-one programs for carefully selected clients.

WHAT AM I SEEKING?

I am seeking my teammates. Together we will take this vision from an idea to a reality.
